We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world. -Buddha
The ancient Buddhist saying “we are what we think” has been taken to another level – the molecular. In 1994, Dr. Masaru Emoto held experiments linking raw emotions to the cellular breakdown of water molecules. This breathtaking scientific approach recorded evidence that positive thinking provides for a more positive life. By observing pure water in all forms of matter, including ice crystals, it is revealed that emotional energy effects water.
According to USGS Water Science School, the adult human body is made up of 60% water. While children contain more water, especially the baby, which carries a percentage of 78% water. Water does a lot for our bodies as depicted by USGS chart below:
Meet Dr. Masaru Emoto
Dr. Masaru Emoto was from Yokohama, Japan. He was an author, doctorate and photographer. He truly believed in the sacredness of water and carried out a number of experiments to prove his theories. Though his experiments didn’t come without scrutiny, he didn’t let the doubt of others deter him on the journey to experiment and write about the link between human consciousness and water molecules. He is also the author of the New York Time’s bestselling book, The Hidden Messages in Water. The book comes with extraordinary reviews.
The Study
Mesmerized by water, Dr. Masaru Emoto hypothesized that a human’s conscious thoughts impact the molecular structure of water particles. One of his most in depth studies was with frozen water in order to observe snowflake and snow crystal structures.
The waters that were collected in the experiment varied from fresh water lakes, rivers, waterfalls, tap and distilled. The purest of waters, found in the most pristine of locations, and water that was distilled twice, were waters that reacted best to the emotional testing. The less contaminated the water, including the water bottles, the better.
The waters were emotionally treated with either positive words, negative words or just completely ignored.
The study concluded that the subject water sources mentioned above reacted to the emotional testing. When the waters were frozen, the snow crystals from the emotionally positive test proved to have more beautiful and appealing snow crystals. Whilst on the contrary, the emotionally negative test proved to have more disfigured and unattractive snow crystals.
Water is Life
Water is a miraculous substance in the universe. Water can give life and also take it away. Chasing waterfalls and steeping tea will never be the same thanks to the experiments of Dr. Masaru Emoto. Without water, there’s no tea and since the human body is made up of 60% water, there’s also no human body.
Additionally, there’s no shame in pillow talking your pure water after all. In fact, you’ll be creating beautiful snow crystals that way. Just imagine the liquid and gas form of the beauty you are creating. As for the other frozen types of the not so pure water that didn’t make the cut; be mindful of how water is important and should be kept as pure as possible.
At Home Science Project
If you want to be a junior Dr. Masaru Emoto, you can try a very simple rice experiment at home. This experiment carries the same concepts as the snow crystals experiment but you don’t have to chase pristine waterfalls to do it- even though that does sound marvelous. What you’ll need is:
- 3 jars or beakers
- Water
- Rice
The experiment lasts for 30 days and jars should be visited daily with the below interactions. You can also label the jars with the corresponding emotional treatment the jar will be receiving.
First jar is dedicated to loving, positive words, songs, prayer or music.
Second jar is dedicated to hateful, negative words, songs or music.
Third jar is completely ignored.
Please note that for this experiment, cooked rice can also be used. Hence, the water contained in the cooked rice. There are several YouTube experimenters trying this at home. Therefore, the variables can be altered a bit.
As a result, the experiment should reveal the rice jar that was interacted with positively ends up looking much better and healthier than the other two jars. The other two jars should be much more moldy and rotten, just the the treatment they received.
Final Thought
In conclusion, Dr. Masaru Emoto’s science experiment has sparked the importance of our impression when it comes to emotions and how we choose to express them. Loving words and actions create more of a loving environment and the opposite is also true. Water is life and we are made up of a lot of water, so be good to it. Without water, there would be no life on Earth. Therefore, according to the experiments and writings of Dr. Masaru Emoto, it seems suitable to hold water as a sacred element.
